Cancer metastasis is a complex process, which includes immotile epithelial cells to transform into motile cells and invade to other organs. This transformation is also called as Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) which usually seen in embryonic development. Our group, for first time, has shown that the Epithelial-Mesenchymal transition generates cells with properties of stem cells, which is key step in invasiveness of tumor cells. Tumor invasiveness is associated with tumor aggressiveness and resistance to treatment. Here we created a database EMTome that focus on collecting EMT core signatures from scattered literature and identify their interactions with miRNA, transcription factors, and proteins using the cell lines (CCLE), Cancer genome atlas (TCGA), metastatic patients (MET500) and pathology atlas (HPA) datasets. The EMTome acts as resource as well as a platform to interrogate EMT-signatures across cancer types.
